This is the first year of actual tennis rankings results, we've never had them in the past. tennisreporting -- the official site of the OSAA for tennis recordkeeping -- does track wins and stats, but it's rankings are not very good and are ignored. A coaches poll in tennis like in other sports presupposes you've seen the other teams around the state, but tennis is pretty regional in a large state like ours, so it wouldn't work quite as well.
Oregontennis.org tennis rankings are essentially a running daily update of tennis rankings and more importantly, a new weekly snapshot ranking that tries to operate more like weekly rankings in the other sports. The difference on our site, we're using a variety of computer-based metrics -- think the old BCS football computer polls -- to assess relative team strength. The current power index, APR (the playoff rating the OSAA uses) and win-loss records are still the biggest factors on the main site rankings, but the computer rankings are a kind of "fun" way to evaluate relative strength across various methods.
I've added a changelog to make it easier to see updates, though most will be a bit arcane if you're not a stathead. Still, I think it's important to note changes as they're happening. This is an experimental tool that I really built for myself, but it's cool that coaches around the state are telling me they're enjoying having a place to review results.

For context, I bought oregontennis.org years ago and used it only for tracking all-state teams. Now the OSAA will take over management of all-state teams for all sports, in collaboration with the OACA and it's a great move.
